Barnet boss Lawrie Sanchez may rotate his side for the trip to Oxford United
1:20pm Tuesday 21st February 2012
Lawrie Sanchez may make changes to his Barnet side for tonight’s League Two match against Oxford United.
The Bees were beaten 2-1 at the weekend by Shrewsbury Town and Sanchez’s side seemed to tire in the second period.
Tonight’s fixture starts a run of five games in a fortnight for the Bees and Barnet’s small squad will certainly be put to the test.
With Aldershot to come this weekend Sanchez believes his side must take at least three points from the next two games.
He said: “The next two matches are tough games and we have to win one of those two. Oxford is going to be very tough and we will probably make personnel changes for that because they are another team going well and looking for promotion.
“And then Aldershot who are in and around us and will be looking to get revenge for us beating them at Underhill earlier in the season.
“Michael (Hector) will be fit for Tuesday. It would’ve been touch and go to play him against Shrewsbury and it with the amount of games we have coming up we thought it would be best to allow him to get 100% fit.”
He continued: “We haven’t got the biggest squad in the world and the 16 players in the squad against Shrewsbury were the 16 players that were available.
“Mauro, Parkes and Cox all out on loan the only person who is at the club is Charlie Taylor. So it will stretch out resources and it is a good time to find out if the squad players are good.”
Oxford could be without several first team players for tonight’s game due to injury.
Alfie Potter is ruled out and will miss the rest of the season with an ankle injury. Also doubtful are Tom Craddock, Tony Capaldi, Jon-Paul Pittman and Simon Heslop.
Mehdi Kerrouche, on loan from Swindon, may partner James Constable upfront after impressing on his debut against Bristol Rovers at the weekend.
