Children's creative writing workshops in Mill Hill this half term
9:10am Saturday 28th January 2012
Youngsters can let their imaginations run wild at a series of creative writing workshops next month.
Sessions will involve children working as detectives, using clues and props to piece together their very own fiction.
They will also have the chance to work on their individual creations and present them to the class.
Andrea Michael, a writer from Mill Hill, will host the workshops for children aged between seven and ten-years-old.
Ms Michael encourages young people to focus on their creativity, rather than get hung up on the rules of writing.
She said: “It may sound a bit hippy-ish but I’ve taught so many kids who are panicked that they’ll get in trouble if they put a comma in the wrong place. Yes, we want to help with literacy, and expanding their vocabulary but more than that we want them to be able to tell a story, to want to tell a story to their peers.”
The workshops cost £12 and will be held at Copthall School in Pursley Road, Mill Hill from 9.30-11.30am from Monday, February 13-Friday, February 17.
